Raised on the Sunshine Coast, Joleen has always felt a deep connection to the ocean. At the age of 20 she made the move to be closer to the surf and she didn't look back. 17 years later she is deeply rooted and her connection has only grown.

She has been making jewelry for as long as she can remember. Encouraged by her mom to always be creative. Her patient Métis grandmother taught her how to work with seed beads, leather working and weaving dream catchers. She is innovative and constantly exploring new mediums. All while honing classic metal smithing.

Life is all about creating. My jewelry is inspired by the earthy elements of the west coast rain forest, treasures of the wild pacific, & the feeling you get while walking barefoot on the sand.

I am deeply grateful to live, work and play on Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Traditional Territory and on the neighbouring Nuu-chah-nulth territories. I know my art would not be what it is with out the inspiration I receive from living here.
